Melbourne 2006: The 18th Commonwealth Games

It all happened a week ago today on my way home from work (or more to be more accuarate, didn't happen!)

It was a Friday nite and I was waiting for a tram out the front of my work (Bourke St.) just craving a beer to celebrate the start of the weekend. It after a breif wait the route 96 tram to arrive and before I knew it i was on my way. The tram was particularly crowded, even for a Friday evening, but it didn't take long for me to notice the 'beautiful volunteer' standing my the door was on the opposite me on the tram. She was conversing with an elderly couple at the time but seemed somewhat her attention seemed to drift from the converstion whe u boarded the tram.

I'm usually not the quickest at detecting when a girl is showing interest but this time, I could tell by the way she smiled at me...thats always the first thing I notice about a girl. I still remember that sweet smile like a photograph in my mind. Although it hadn't been long...when our eyes met something felt right. I don't normally get excited about a girl this quickly but I knew I had to speak to her. I'm not really used to approaching girls on trams so it was taking me several stops to build up my courage...but before I knew it it was too late! As she approached the exit she turned around breifly and gave me a somewhat disapointed look, and I guess I knew it was too late. Maybe I should have jumped out then and there, maybe i should have spoken to her as soon as I got on the tram or maybe I'm just a damn coward - but i know i was just a dissapointed as she was. I know people are in similar situations all the time, incudling myself - but this time it just felt right.

Now as the Commonwealth Games are approaching an end, I'm not sure if i'll ever see her again. As I walk around the city I see so many volunteers, but it seems like there are soo many - how many volunteers could there possibly be??  Finally what mama taught me about not leaving things that you an do right now for later was starting to make sense. Oh well I'm an idiot, but hey if its fate then i'm sure out paths will cross again...

So why am I making such a big deal out of this..? Well lets just say, it was love at first sight Tongue out
